As evidence from the earlier records, Manipur is prone to earthquake, landslide, cyclone and there is a need for a connected effort on the part of Central and State Government to address issues to prepare for the future. Disaster management is a generic usage at the administrative levels. This should include both disaster mitigation and disaster management. There are three main components of the project namely Landslide Hazard Zonation, Flood Hazard Zonation and Earthquake Hazard Zonation. RS and GIS are among many tools available to disaster management professionals today making the effective project planning and more accurate now than ever before.
Objectives: 1) To prepare hazard zonation map of earthquake, landslide, flood and vulnerability map of cyclone covering entire Manipur. 2)To digitize the hazard zonation map 3) To generate an information system on non-spatial data relating to disasters for the purpose of risk analysis due to each disaster.
